Cumbrian Woman Stabs Cheating Husband

Don't cheat on her. She's dangerous.

You play with fire, you get burned. It’s a lesson we learn at mother’s knee, along with not beating our sister and not eating the yellow snow. Some people must wish they’d got some more directly useful advice like “don’t screw around if you’re partner’s a bit unbalanced”.

Lesley Ann Bennett of Harraby found text messages on her partner’s phone that incriminated him in bit on the side. Understandably, she was pretty brassed off. Less understandably, she went about trying to kill him.

Stabbing him a total of 5 times in the head, arms and chest she came within a whisker of putting an end to the affair in the most permanent way possible. Somehow, her partner Michael Dixon survived.

He must have had the mother of all guilt complexes. When the police arrested her for the assault, he refused to testify against her, claiming to have fallen on a knife. Errr. He didn’t take the stand during the trial, but the whole ‘falling on a knife thing’ failed to convince the jury, as did her solictor’s claim that:

“She is a mild mannered, gentle, kind person who is not prone to anger or confrontation”

Riiiiight.

Anyway, she’s been carted off for a 2 and a half stretch for her crime, to join this week’s roll-call of people who’ve found themselves on the wrong end of the law when adultery has come to light. Let that be a warning to cheating housewives everywhere.
